Hitting the Ground Running: Q & A with Experienced Teletherapists
Abstract: As a result of governmental social distancing orders from the COVID-19 pandemic, many SLPs are now encouraged or required to provide teletherapy to clients. This 90-minute question and answer session with a panel of three seasoned teletherapists will explore the following topics:
Best practices in teletherapy
Effective ways to engage clients and coach family members
How to conduct online oral examinations and swallow evaluations
Resources for therapy materials
Resources for families

(3) Identify resources that facilitate effective practice with clients and families
Lauren Tandy, M.S., CCC-SLP is the owner of Tandy Therapy LLC. A Washington state native, she now lives in Post Falls, Idaho. She has been in private practice since 2016 providing in-home and clinic-based speech, language, and feeding and swallowing services to clients. She runs a home-based clinic in Post Falls, Idaho and offer school-based therapy as well as teletherapy to clients throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Holly Davis, M.S., CCC-SLP has been a practicing SLP for 6 years. She graduated from University of Redlands in 2013 with a Master of Science in speech pathology. She spent her CFY in South Kitsap school district (preschool and elementary caseload) and 5.5 years at Valley Medical Center Children's Therapy inpatient (NICU) and outpatient services. She has practiced teletherapy since 2019, working with PresenceLearning as an independent contractor, providing services to students (ages 5-18 years) enrolled in Washington Virtual Academies (WAVA).

Roberta Kelley, M.S, CCC-SLP has been an SLP for 48 years. She received her Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a former clinical associate /supervisor at the University of Washington Department of Speech & Hearing. She worked at the Neurorehabilitation Clinic/Neurology Department at Virginia Mason Medical Center and has spent 10 years in private practice. Roberta won the WSLHA Clinical Achievement Award in 1998 for advancement of speech pathology services via telemedicine.
