Biography - Lauren M. Cycyk, PhD, CCC-SLP:
Lauren M. Cycyk, PhD, CCC-SLP is an Associate Professor in Communication Disorders and Sciences at the University of Oregon. Her research focuses on early multilingual language development and disorders and developing early language assessments, interventions, and systems that are responsive to this population. She is a bilingual Spanish-English speech-language pathologist who has practiced in educational and medical settings in the United States and Mexico.
Course Description: This course will first review and debunk prevalent myths about early multilingual language development and disorders. Participants will then explore how these misconceptions influence practice and will leave with evidence-based strategies and resources for differentiating typical from atypical development among multilingual learners.

Learning Objectives: Participants will be able to:
Explain the evidence against prevalent myths surrounding multilingual language development and disorders.
Identify and explain at least 2 evidence-based practices for multilingual assessment.
