Special Recognition Award
The Special Recognition Award is awarded to an individual or group(s) outside of the profession who exhibit(s) exemplary contributions to WSLHA. Contributions may include but are not limited to consumer advocacy, legislative or other governmental affairs activity, public awareness, research and/or service to WSLHA. Members of WSLHA, practicing audiologists and speech-language pathologists are not eligible to be nominated for this award.
Once awarded this Special Recognition Award, the individual may not be honored with this award in subsequent years.
The sponsor of this award may not participate as a sponsor and/or co-sponsor for another nominee in any calendar year.
Honors of the Association Award
The Honors of the Association Award is WSLHA’s highest honor for contributions to the field of audiology or speech-language pathology. Nomination of individual(s) for consideration for the Honors of the Association may be initiated by any member of the Association.
The nomination must be seconded by three additional members, designated as co-sponsors. The nominating statement shall emphasize the specific contribution to the profession for which s/he is nominated and be accompanied by a brief outline of the nominee’s education and professional activities. Such contributions may include dedicated participation in WSLHA, outstanding work in clinical service/teaching/research, etc. This statement must be signed by the sponsor and may be signed by the co-sponsors. If the co-sponsors do not sign this nominating statement, they must submit a short note in writing stating their support for the nomination, with their signatures. This may be done as a group or individually. The nominating statement may be augmented by letters of support from non-members (i.e., other professionals with whom the nominee has worked or consumers).
Distinguished Service Award
The Distinguished Service Award is given for a demonstrated history of dedication to the mission and vision of the Washington Speech-Language-Hearing Association through volunteerism or contractual service. It is awarded to a WSLHA member/ group of members or other individual/group (prior or non-members) with a long-term history of committed and exemplary contributions to WSLHA during their years of association with WSLHA.
Once given this Distinguished Service Award, the individual may not be honored with this award in subsequent years.
The sponsor may not participate as a sponsor and/or co-sponsor for another nominee in the calendar year.
Clinical Achievement “DiCarlo” Award
The Clinical Achievement “DiCarlo” Award is awarded to any WSLHA Member who exhibits advancement of knowledge in clinical practices as evidenced by significant accomplishment(s) within the past three years in the advancement of clinical services in speech-language pathology or audiology. There are no limitations to any particular type of clinical achievement or activity. Some examples of eligible activities or accomplishments might include achievement with a single client or group of clients, clinical service programming, program development, achievement in a state or local organization or government agency activity and clinical teaching, research or administration.
Once a person has received the Clinical Achievement DiCarlo Award, he/she may not be so honored again.
