Who is eligible to earn ASHA CEUs?

Effective July 1, 2011, individuals must meet at least one of the following conditions in order to be eligible to earn ASHA CEUs.

  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) Holder

  • Life Member, Membership holder without Certification, or International Affiliate

  • Licensed by a state or provincial regulatory agency to practice independently as an audiologist or speech-language pathologist

  • Credentialed by a state regulatory agency to practice independently as an audiologist or speech-language pathologist

  • Credentialed by a national regulatory agency to practice independently as an audiologist or speech-language pathologist

  • Currently engaged in a Clinical Fellowship, which is supervised by someone with their ASHA CCC

  • Currently enrolled in a masters or doctoral program in audiology or speech language pathology

What does the ASHA CE Registry do to determine eligibility?

If we receive participant information for an attendee who is not in our database as an "eligible" Registry user, we will send an e-mail requesting the individual provide documentation of eligibility prior to awarding ASHA CEUs. An individual must have at least one eligibility criteria at the time they complete a course to be eligible to earn ASHA CEUs.

If I'm not eligible to earn ASHA CEUs, can I attend courses offered by ASHA Approved CE Providers?

Each ASHA Approved CE Provider sets the pre-requisites for their course. If you meet the pre-requisites to attend the course, you can attend but you would not be able to earn ASHA CEUs. Unless you meet the eligibility requirements to earn ASHA CEUs, do not indicate to the provider that you wish to earn ASHA CEUs.

If I earned ASHA CEUs prior to 7/1/2011 but I'm no longer eligible to earn ASHA CEUs, what happens to the ASHA CEUs I earned?

ASHA CEUs earned prior to 7/1/2011 will be retained on the ASHA CE Registry transcript. If you become eligible in the future to earn ASHA CEUs, complete the Eligibility to Earn ASHA CEUs web form to update your eligibility credentials

If I have never earned ASHA CEUs, how do I establish eligibility?

If you are an ASHA member or ASHA CCC holder, our database will indicate that you are eligible to earn ASHA CEUs. Just following the CE Provider’s instructions to request ASHA CEUs and the ASHA Approved CE Provider will forward your completion records to the CE Registry. If your CE Registry fee has not been paid, you will receive an invoice for the CE Registry service to track and award your ASHA CEUs.

If you are not an ASHA member or CCC holder but you meet any one of the other criteria, follow the CE Provider's instructions to request ASHA CEUs and the ASHA Approved CE Provider will also forward that your completion records to the CE Registry. You can inform us of your eligibility by completing the form on the ASHA CE website. When the CE Registry receives your form, CE staff will contact you via e-mail to obtain eligibility documentation. update your account information and if it is determined that you are eligible, courses will be marked eligible and an invoice will be sent to add those ASHA CEUs to your transcript.

Can ASHA Assistants/Associates earn ASHA CEUs?

Only ASHA Assistants or Associates who meet at least one eligibility requirement may earn ASHA CEUs.  Otherwise, Associates are not able to use the CE Registry service or earn ASHA CEUs.

Can students earn ASHA CEUs?

Students currently enrolled in a graduate or doctoral degree program in speech-language pathology or audiology can earn ASHA CEUs. Let us know now that you are eligible to earn ASHA CEUs by completing the Eligibility to Earn ASHA CEUs form.

Can I earn ASHA CEUs after I graduate?

If you meet at least one of the eligibility criteria after you graduate, you will be eligible to  earn ASHA CEUs. If you become an ASHA member or CCC holder, you automatically qualify to earn ASHA CEUs at the point that your CCC's are awarded. Otherwise, you must meet at least one of the eligibility criteria at the time you complete the course. The CE Registry staff will contact you via e-mail you if additional eligibility documentation is needed.
